About Us As a child I was never permitted to have any pets. We lived in town, and I really don’t know why we weren’t allowed, but I was always crazy about anything with four legs, especially horses. My next great love was reading. I would go to the library 2 or 3 times a week and take out as many books as they would let me, read them all, and go back for more. Thank goodness I had 2 libraries within walking distance! I read every horse title I could find, and a ton of dog books too. I also read books about other things, like people. My point is that I learned a lot by reading, and I think it’s a great way to learn. When I grew up and got married my husband had a dog that he had gotten as a pup when he was a small boy. I picked up one for myself, and ever since that time we have always had more than one dog, (usually 5 or 6), several cats, many goats, a few parakeets, chickens, ducks, pheasants, a couple of calves, and many horses. I have enjoyed watching first hand and assisting with the birth of kittens, puppies, goats and horses. It is truly a miracle, and so amazing to see the natural maternal instinct in action. Anyone who has pets or livestock, or WANTS animals can benefit a great deal by reading about how to care for them.
